Policy of trade and consumer market regulation in the Republic of Artsakh is aimed at regulating the activities in this area, including the consumer rights and interests protection. To this end, certain measures are taken in the country to ensure the development of free competition in the consumer market, to develop and implement, in accordance with international standards, the system of ensuring the rights of consumers, investment of good standards of business ethics, a provision of feedback control in the public sector, formation of a system of corporate control rules, including corporate governance.
Trade and services sector where a substantial part of the working population is engaged in is the main component of the RA economy. The activity of trade and service in the territory of the Republic of Artsakh is governed by the NKR Law “On Trade and Services”, the Civil Code and other laws and legal acts.
The main objective of regulation of the consumer market is the formation and development of the system of consumers’ rights and interests protection. The rights and interests of consumers are protected by the NKR Law “On Consumer Rights and Interests Protection”. Activity of Artsakh Ministry of Economy and Industrial Infrastructures in this area aims at consumers’ protection, development and introduction of modern and effective legal protection systems and mechanisms, development and implementation of public awareness programs on consumers’ rights protection measures.
